FREE--Two Barred Rock Chickens - FREE

We have two barred rock hens that are free to a good home. They are very sociable, friendly chickens....good with kids, our dog, and adults, too. They were born in April 2007, and we raised them since they were one day old chicks. We had them cooped the first year, but have been letting them free-range (in good weather) since last summer. We got three new chicks this spring that should start laying eggs any day now, so we are hoping to find a good home for the older girls before then. Barred rocks are good egg-layers, but production decreases after the first few years.

Who is Beth Prewett and why should I help her dissertation research?

I am a doctoral student at Capella University who is very invested in multicultural issues regarding psychological testing and assessment. While working at the Bugonaygeshig School and while going to school, I found that psychology has sometimes done an injustice to human beings because of cultural and value differences and misunderstandings. I\'d like to do this research to, at the very least, open some minds in the field I have chosen to go into and to work towards culture fair testing. The research will not cure any ills that have been done and continue today, but change has to start somewhere. I also have a lot to learn and I believe learning it from PEOPLE instead of books can help me tremendously grow as a clinician. So, I am asking your help.

How can I participate?

I have testing sites set up on and around the reservation. If you are interested in participating, please contact Beth Prewett at 218-256-7341 or bethprewett@hotmail.com. If I am not home, please leave your name and a way to contact you regarding testing sites, dates, and times. Miigwetch!

This research is being conducted by Beth Prewett, graduate student at Capella University, as part of her dissertation. This research has the approval of Archie LaRose, Tribal Chair of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe. Beth is under the supervision of Dr. Mark Zwingelberg, Psy.D. LP, Dissertation Chair. Dr. Zwingelberg is also an Adjunct Faculty at Capella University.
